North Oxfordshire MP, Victoria Prentis, has written to all her Parliamentary colleagues with nearby constituencies to encourage them to get behind the Save the Horton campaign. Members of Parliament include: Rt Hon David Cameron (Witney); Rt Hon Andrea Leadsom (South Northamptonshire); Nadhim Zahawi (Stratford on Avon); Nicola Blackwood (Oxford West & Abingdon); Andrew Smith (Oxford East); John Howell (Henley); Rt Hon Ed Vaizey (Didcot & Wantage); Rt Hon Jeremy Wright QC (Kenilworth & Southam); and the Speaker of the Commons, Rt Hon John Bercow (Buckingham).

Victoria said: “Before Parliament rose for the summer recess, I had a number of helpful and reassuring conversations with colleagues about the Trust’s plans for the Horton General Hospital. However, given recent developments I was keen to ensure that all those MPs whose constituents use the Horton are up to speed. So far, the responses have been positive. I am hoping to arrange a meeting with fellow MPs, the Trust and the Clinical Commissioning Group towards the end of August; it will provide an opportunity for us to question those in decision-making positions. It is particularly important for the Trust to understand that the decisions they are taking affect not only the residents of North Oxfordshire, but also people in a large surrounding area.

The Horton is a vital lifeline to hundreds of thousands of people; I will continue to do all that I can to ensure it remains the general hospital it is today.”
