VICTORIA PRENTIS MP CALLS FOR CONSTITUENTS TO VOTE FOR BANBURY IN NATIONAL GREAT BRITISH HIGH STREET AWARD
Victoria Prentis MP was delighted to hear that Banbury has been confirmed as a finalist in the Great British High Street competition.
Banbury has been named as one of the country’s best high streets following Cherwell District Council’s submission to the Town Centre category of the awards. Banbury is now said to be one of the top three high streets in its category. The competition has seen over 900 entries across 14 categories.
In order to win the award, members of the public are being encouraged to vote for Banbury before 18 November 2016. Alongside the public vote, shortlisted town centres will be visited and inspected by a judging panel made up of industry leaders from retail, property and business sectors.
If successful, the town will get a share of a £100,000 prize fund, and expert training for selected representatives of the town from Google and Twitter in London.
Victoria commented: “I am thrilled that Banbury has been shortlisted in the Town Centre category of the High Street of the Year awards. It is certain that we would not have reached this position without considerable support and help from local partners, our District Council, businesses and of course, local people. Banbury has a thriving town centre and I am very pleased that this has been recognised nationally.
I encourage all of my constituents to vote for our much-loved town. We must support Banbury’s entry as a Great British High Street.”
Voting is now open and members of the public can vote for free until November 18 via www.thegreatbritishhighstreet.co.uk/high-street-of-the-year-award.
