I enjoyed hosting my annual Cherwell Democracy Challenge at Bodicote House today, as part of UK Parliament week.
It was great to have students from The Bicester School, The Warriner School, The Cooper School, Bloxham School, Sibford School and Blessed George Napier Catholic School come together to participate in a day of debating.
I am always really impressed with students’ awareness of issues and this year was no different. Following two rounds of rich debating, it was The Warriner and The Cooper who advanced to the final in what was a rematch from last year. After a closely fought motion on prisons, the judges were won over by The Cooper’s style and presentation.
I would like to thank Cherwell District Council for hosting the day, to each of the judges for taking time out of their busy schedules and to all of the students who came along.
