Under plans to increase protection against respiratory viruses ahead of winter, everyone aged 50 and over will be among those offered a Covid-19 booster and flu jab this autumn.
I am pleased that the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recommended this action to boost immunity. I welcome that the government has committed to continuing protecting those most at risk with targeted vaccines and treatments. Vaccination remains our best possible line of defence against this virus.
