To mark English Tourism Week, I visited some of our wonderful local attractions in North Oxfordshire of which I was thrilled to see reopen. This morning, I enjoyed a lovely walk along to Oxfordshire Narrowboats on the canal. In the afternoon, I visited the marvellous RAF Upper Heyford Heritage site and was given a great tour by Heritage Manager Nick and Volunteer Guide Ray. It was really exciting to go into Shelter 9 and see where the F-111s used to fly from.
I later visited Bicester Heritage where I met Simon from the Little Car company and got to drive a 66% scale Aston Martin DB5. It was great to meet the team and find out about their exciting plans for the future. This multi-use site is not only already home to many great businesses but also has an ambitious development plan to ensure they become a future destination to visit in their own right. It is really good to see investment plans of this size and scale as we move out of the pandemic and into recovery.
