I was delighted to visit Fitness in Time, Bicester's women-only gym, last week. I met owner Peter Dewbery who purchased the gym at the beginning of the year. Peter owns two other women-only gyms in Abingdon and Chesterfield which have proven really successful.
I was able to see first-hand how safe, friendly and welcoming of an environment the gym really is. Gyms can often be intimidating places, especially for beginners. However, Fitness in Time encourages women of all shapes, sizes and age and builds their confidence.
I was impressed by the supportive atmosphere inside the gym. Trainers Ros and Marion were telling me how each member receives personalised 1-2-1 coaching and mentoring, with a monthly review keeping them motivated and on track. Alongside regular classes, the gym includes a circuit of resistance equipment which I’m told is very popular. 20 people can be on the circuit at any one given time, and they complete a 30-minute workout. I gladly gave some of the equipment a go myself!
Fitness in Time has 50 members so far. I was interested to hear Peter’s future plans to welcome more women from the community and scale his gym up to over 200 members.
