On Friday 18 July I spent the morning at Launton Grange Care Home to have a look around its brand-new facilities. It was really good to see that the Home has been designed with the comfort of residents in mind and was beautifully decorated. I was particularly impressed by the safety measures that were in place, including: temperature checks on arrival for staff, residents and visitors; masks provided for staff; and, a rigorous cleaning schedule. It was clear to me that the top priority for Launton Grange is the safety of its residents’ and staff.
During my visit I was able to discuss how relatives can visit safely during the current circumstances. Given the home’s spacious garden area, outside visits will be able to operate with relative ease. As the weather gets colder, it was proposed that a ground floor room with double doors could remain vacant, allowing elderly residents to keep warm and communicate through the open door when family visit.
My visit was timely, given that Launton Grange is opening next month. I felt very honoured to be asked to plant a tree to mark my visit. I know that they are really looking forward to welcoming residents in the weeks to come.
I was pleased to hear that two people are ready to move into their new home, and that several tours are planned for other prospective residents over the coming weeks. I wish Launton Grange the best of luck with its opening.
