Councils in Oxfordshire are launching a new local contact tracing system to help people who’ve recently tested positive for COVID-19. This continued local effort to #stopthespread will see Oxfordshire County Council and the county’s five district councils working to compliment the well-established national system, by contacting people that the NHS test and trace national system has been unable to reach.
The local contact tracing system will provide another layer of vital support to help control COVID-19 in Oxfordshire. Where local call handlers are still unable to contact people, trained staff from the City and district councils will visit cases at home and deliver letters, explaining why the council is trying to get in touch and asking people to contact the call centre.
The service will run seven days a week with calls coming from the council using a local (01865) phone number. Text messages will also be sent to people with mobile phones telling them to expect a call.
The overall aim of this fantastic local system is simple – to limit the transmission of COVID-19.
