Earlier this month, I visited the brand new Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E) design centre on the Mahindra campus in Banbury.
I was given a tour by M.A.D.E Chief Design Officer, Pratap Bose, and Design Director, Cosimo Amadei, who showed me the state-of-the-art design facilities they have installed. On the tour, I was pleased to meet their brilliant team of 30 staff, many of whom have been recruited locally. This studio is only Mahindra’s third in the world and will be the main design centre for their Born Electric range of e-SUVs. I was very lucky to get a sneak peek at the SUV prototypes, which only launched this Monday.
While I was on the Mahindra campus, I also got to visit the Mahindra Racing building, the home of the Mahindra Formula E team. CEO & Team Principal, Dilbagh Gill, and CFO, Chandrashekhar Joshi, gave me a tour of the many design spaces and workshops within the facility. I was also shown different generations of their Formula E car, as well as the many components which go into them. A real treat was seeing their racing simulators being used by the drivers in preparation for the Seoul ePrix.
It is brilliant to see Mahindra investing and expanding in Banbury. Their state-of-the-art campus is actively recruiting locally and is only adding to our town’s credentials as an international centre of automotive and motorsport excellence.
