This afternoon, I had a really helpful meeting with BEIS Minister, Paul Scully, to chat about JDE Banbury and discuss the use of fire and rehire tactics.
It is very clear that the Government has done a lot of work on the subject to ensure there is a robust legal framework in place. ACAS has undertaken some qualitative work on the issue and are now in the process of writing up some guidelines. They will also monitor quantitative data which BEIS will follow.
Associates at JDE are currently in the process of voting on the new proposals through Unite's formal ballot process this week. I am monitoring the situation very closely and am encouraged by this positive step forward.
