On Friday 14 December Victoria Prentis, Member of Parliament for North Oxfordshire, visited Sanctuary Supported Living’s (SSL) Rachel House to meet residents and learn more about SSL’s work with the ‘Starts at Home’ campaign.
Rachel House is a Banbury-based service providing support for parents aged 16-25 and their children. Residents and SSL staff had the opportunity to speak to their MP about the support available, which includes advice on maintaining a tenancy, parenting skills and accessing education, training and employment.
Speaking after the visit, Victoria said: “I really enjoyed visiting Rachel House to meet the families living there and learn more about what SSL staff do. Rachel House allows residents to build the confidence to support their children and family, and shows the benefits of a personalised approach to support.”
Sanctuary Supported Living Head of Service, David Shaw, added: “It was a pleasure to welcome the MP to Rachel House, where we were able to showcase the invaluable work we do with the young families. Starts at Home is a campaign led by the National Housing Federation to highlight the value of providing care and support through supported housing.”
