This week applications reopened for the National Lottery Grants for Heritage. I know that for many local heritage organisations this past year has been very challenging, and that it is vital they receive the support they need.
The National Lottery Grants for Heritage means organisations can apply for vital financial support. I was pleased that, when the UK entered the first lockdown last year, the National Lottery moved quickly to deliver £50 million in emergency support. By the end of this financial year, they will have provided more than £500 million of National Lottery and Government funding for England, supporting over 15000 heritage organisations.
Between April 2021 and March 2022, when making funding decisions, the National Lottery will prioritise heritage projects that:
- Boost the local economy
- Encourage skills development and job creation
- Support wellbeing
- Create better places to live, work and visit
- Improve the resilience of organisations working in heritage
