I have been reassured that the Environment Agency are continually monitoring our river levels locally. More rainfall is forecast tomorrow which may cause rises and further increase the risk that some properties could experience some flooding.
As of 16.00 on 3 January, there are 3 flood warnings and 6 alerts in force locally which I have shared below.
Flood warnings are issued when property flooding is expected.
Flood alerts are issued when flooding to low lying areas such as fields and roads are expected, and property flooding is possible.
Flood Warnings:
- River Cherwell from below Banbury to just above Upper Heyford.
- River Cherwell from Lower Heyford down to Cherwell Bridge.
- River Ray from the Heath Bridge area to and including the Otmoor Basin.
Flood Alerts:
- River Evenlode from Moreton in Marsh to Cassington and also the River Glyme at Wootton and Woodstock.
- River Cherwell from Lower Heyford down to and including Oxford.
- Langford and Wendlebury Brooks from Stratton Audley down to near Merton.
- River Ray and its tributaries from Shipton Lee to and including Islip.
- Sor Brook and The Bloxham Brook and their tributaries.
- River Cherwell from Charwelton to just above Upper Heyford.
