A number of constituents have contacted me recently to express concerns about the lack of available appointments for their vaccination at one of the GP-delivered sites in Banbury.
I appreciate that some of my constituents - particularly those who are elderly or clinically extremely vulnerable - may find it difficult to make the journey to one of the mass vaccination sites including the Kassam Stadium in Oxford. I have therefore made some enquiries with Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group and understand the situation is as follows:
People over the age of 55 may book a vaccination appointment using the national booking system. The GP-led vaccination sites in Banbury cannot currently be booked this way.
Vaccine supplies within the system have increased in recent days and these are going to the PCN (GP-delivered) sites. GPs are working through the list of cohort 6 - clinically vulnerable patients - and they have started second doses for cohorts 1 and 2.
The general advice remains that patients should not contact their GP practice about an appointment. Rather the practice will contact them to offer an appointment.
