It was great to pop in to Katharine House Hospice to meet new CEO Trevor Johnson today. We discussed their new partnership with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which started in April and also spoke about their future plans, including how the hospice are looking to develop services further and improve outreach.
Katharine House is a much loved and well-respected charity in our area, supporting patients and their families when they need them the most. It is important that we continue to do what we can to support fundraising efforts so that they can continue to provide the care that they do.
Trevor explained how vital fundraising is:
“Our partnership with the NHS means half our fundraising needs are met, which ensures we can continue to provide excellent medical support for our patients. However, we still desperately rely on the donations and support of the community to fund all the things that help us make every moment matter for our patients.”
“Without the support of the community we would not be able to provide the additionality to our medical care; we would be a hospital, not a hospice. We couldn’t provide the therapy, the relaxation classes, the first-class meals, the bereavement support, the arts and crafts, the fun and laughter. More than ever, we need the community’s help to keep the heart of the hospice going.”
