On Tuesday 8 December I joined the Banbury Brownies at their weekly meeting. Owing to coronavirus, the Banbury Brownies have continued to meet online every week since March.
It was great to join them this week, to meet the Brownies and answer their questions about my life as an MP. We talked about when I became an MP, my daily duties, the work I am most proud of, and the biggest challengers I face as an MP. All the brownies seemed to have a real interest in politics, and asked me some tough questions. They were particularly keen to hear about female representation. We discussed why there are currently more male MPs than female, and how to get more women involved in politics.
I was also asked about my hopes for the constituency going forward. I explained to the Brownies that ensuring that there are lots of local jobs is very important to me, especially as the country recovers from Coronavirus. I also talked about the Horton General Hospital, and how making it the best hospital it can be for constituents is, and always has been, a top priority for me since becoming an MP.
It is always brilliant to catch up with local Brownies. I wish the Banbury Brownies a wonderful Christmas and hope to visit them in person in the New Year.
