Today, I was proud to launch our first ever food strategy. This will boost food production, back British farmers, promote local produce and create jobs.
The food industry is bigger than the automotive and aerospace industries combined. The strategy we have set out will focus on skills in the food sector and the roles and career pathways available. We want to boost our industry by harnessing new technologies and innovation, as well as encouraging people to buy local. Our food strategy sets out a blueprint for how we will back British farmers and help protect against the impact of future economic shocks by safeguarding our domestic food security.
