This week, train operators have launched public and employee consultations on proposals to change the way train stations operate.
In Banbury and Bicester North, Chiltern Railways are proposing to move staff from the ticket office to the station concourse, where they can help passengers with purchasing tickets and boarding trains. I understand this would be similar to the “customer focused station” model already used in Bicester Village and Oxford Parkway stations. Chiltern have uploaded their proposals for Banbury and Bicester to their website here.
I will be speaking to Chiltern Railways directly to gain a better understanding of the specific plans for Banbury and Bicester. The consultation will run for 21 days, following which decisions on individual stations will be made on a case-by-case basis.
I would encourage all those affected by the proposals to read more about them and respond to the consultation. There is more information on how to do so, as well as on the proposals more widely, here.
